Mr. Johnson has served as an operating executive in various capacities throughout his career, including the positions of CEO, President, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Vice President Worldwide Sales. In these positions he has lead or had material involvement in the execution of a full range of investment banking transactions – initial public offerings, secondary offerings, corporate sales and divestitures, and management buyouts. Mr. Johnson has had success working with high growth, high margin operations as well as turnaround intensive transactions.
Prior to joining Daybreak Capital Partners, Mr. Johnson was CEO and founder of Golden Precision, a contract manufacturer serving the military electronics, industrial controls, communications, data storage, computing, transportation and oil and gas industries. Mr. Johnson served in this capacity since its acquisition from Dynamic Details Inc in 2003 through to its sale in 2009. From 1993 to 2002, Mr. Johnson was a founder and COO of Hi-Tech Manufacturing, an electronics contract manufacturing services company serving customers in a wide range of industries. Mr. Johnson worked with Hi-Tech Manufacturing from start-up through to it reaching $800 million in annual sales and its merger into SMTC (NASDAQ:SMTC), where he had a leadership role in its eventual $400 million IPO.
Prior to founding Hi-Tech Manufacturing, Mr. Johnson served in senior finance and manufacturing capacities at Aspen Peripherals, a data storage device company which was sold to StorageTek in 1989. Mr. Johnson worked at Aspen Technologies for 3 years including reporting directly to Jesse Awieda, founder of the company. Mr. Johnson’s previous experience includes financial positions at MiniScribe Corporation, a manufacturer of hard disk storage drives and related systems, and Digital Equipment Corporation, a manufacturer of computing equipment. Mr. Johnson was an Olympic level athlete in the sport of wrestling. Mr. Johnson holds a BA in Accounting from Wilkes University.
