David G. Hoffman

David has been active in the private equity industry for more than three decades with a long-standing track record as both a senior investment professional and Board Member of over 25 companies. David’s investment leadership roles have predominantly involved companies in Consumer Products and Services, Healthcare Products and Services, and Business Services.
In 2013, David co-founded and built, as Managing Partner at Cathay Capital Private Equity, the North American operations of Cathay Capital Private Equity. He was responsible for hiring a team and establishing the firm’s beachhead in North America. Founded in 2007 in France and China, the Firm today is a €4 billion AUM, international operating-oriented entity dedicated to value creation by growing lower middle-market companies beyond their domestic markets.
From 2013 to 2015, David assisted many of Cathay’s international portfolio companies with both their business development activities and identification and execution of add-on acquisitions - in North America. During this period, David also led the raise of Cathay Capital’s first North American Sino Fund (“CCNAS”) from institutional investors and high net worth families CCNAS, under David’s oversight, made eight control and non-control platform investments (five in the U.S., three in China) and multiple add-on acquisitions. David was also actively involved with over a dozen of Cathay’s European and Chinese companies
Subsequent to leaving Cathay in mid-2019, David has managed capital from high-net-worth families and today is on four private company boards, including the Duluth, GA-based Carter & Clark, the largest independent land surveying firm for production home-builders and government disaster recovery projects.
Prior to Cathay, David spent over 20 years with Charterhouse Group, one of the pioneer private equity buyout firms founded as an independent arm of Charterhouse Bank (UK) in 1973. While at Charterhouse, David held the position of Senior Managing Director and was the Firm’s number two investment professional. During his career at Charterhouse, David oversaw the Consumer Sector’s investing activities, managed its Business Development efforts across the Consumer, Business Services and Healthcare Service verticals, was integrally involved in the firm’s fundraising, and re-crafted and managed the Charterhouse Entrepreneur (Operating Executive) Program.
During David’s tenure, Charterhouse completed over 50 platform acquisitions and approximately 150 add-on acquisitions.
David holds a B.A. in Economics from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University. He currently resides in New York City. He currently serves on the Boards of RaffelSystems and Innovative Office Products, LLC.
